One of the fastest and least expensive ways to freshen, improve and personalize a house is with paint. Do not fear using some color throughout the home!

The following are also some good tips when working with specific type of paint:

  • Flat Finishes have no shine, making them ideal for hiding minor surface imperfections.
  • Eggshell or Velvet Finishes work in just about any room. They are easier to clean than flat finishes and offer a soft glow that warms up any room.
  • Satin or Semi-Gloss Finishes are easy to clean and are good for highlighting architectural details. They work well in kitchens, baths, and on doors and trim.
  • Gloss Finishes are shiny and easily cleaned, so they are perfect for doors, trim and specialty uses.

Do not be afraid of color.  Make sure that you look at your flooring and ceiling, are they changing?  How about the furnishing in the room?  Bring home color swatches and check to see how they look during different stages of the day and lightening in the room.  Once you have chosen your color, paint a two feet by two feet sample on the wall.  Wait till it drys.  Paint can dry darker then it is depicted.  Once the paint is picked, now it is time to paint!
